Injection molding, also known as plastic injection, is a process for processing thermoformable materials, including thermoplastics.
This technique can be used to manufacture parts in large or very large series.
Injection-molded components can be found in a wide range of manufactured products, including automobiles, household appliances, IT equipment and garden furniture.
Parts range in size from a few millimeters to several meters (car body parts, garden tables, etc.).
Before processing, the plastic material takes the form of granules rarely exceeding a few millimeters in size.
These granules are transferred inside the plasticizing sheath to be heated and gradually softened to a sufficient temperature to allow the material to be injected under pressure into the mold cavities, giving the final, definitive shape to the manufactured product.
The range of processed thermoplastics is extensive: PP, ABS, PVC, POM, PMMA, PA, PET, PC…Simple or filled range, fiber or glass bead.
All materials, colorants and additives can be studied.
