Creaplast and its circular economy on Plastic Flash

Creaplast, a subsidiary of the Velfor Group, is proudly featured in the latest issue of Plastique Flash for its commitment to the circular economy. This article highlights Creaplast’s concrete efforts to integrate recycled materials into its production and promote sustainable production. The circular economy is at the heart of Creaplast’s strategy, as we seek to reduce our environmental impact while maintaining the quality and performance of our products. This recognition in Plastique Flash confirms that our approach is recognized by industry professionals, and encourages us to take this approach even further, through constant innovation.

At Creaplast, a subsidiary of the Velfor group, we have rethought our processes to better integrate recycled materials and optimize resource management.

We know that the circular economy is essential to building a more environmentally-friendly industry. That’s why we implement solutions to limit waste and encourage the reuse of materials. Our aim is to reduce the ecological footprint of our activities while offering high-quality, durable, high-performance products. This work is based on a process of continuous innovation, strong involvement of our teams, and close collaboration with our partners.

We invite all players in the sector to discover our commitment and join us in this transition to more sustainable production.

Indeed, by adopting circular economy practices, Creaplast is leading the way towards a more responsible plastics industry that respects the planet. Recycling and reusing materials are important levers for preserving natural resources. Together, we can build a future where environmental impact is reduced, while meeting market needs. Creaplast continues to invest fully in this dynamic to contribute to a sustainable and innovative future.

The Velfor Group, expert in innovative and sustainable solutions

The Velfor Group specializes in the production of solutions using thin and thick thermoforming and/or high-frequency welding technologies. We can meet all your requirements for a wide range of markets, including :

  • The food industry
  • Health
  • The industry
  • Cosmetics
  • Large-scale distribution

Our unique support approach makes us a true partner in your development. For over 48 years, we’ve been giving you the benefit of our expertise and experience. We offer you a turnkey service: conception, design, industrialization, packaging of finished products, delivery to final points of sale.

What’s more, our integrated design department enables us to provide solutions. We see ourselves as co-developers of your projects. This design department provides studies (sales, marketing, industrial, economic…) to meet all your requirements. He then offers you a range of different design solutions to meet your needs. We can offer you customized turnkey concepts and solutions, while adding value (design, functionality…) and meeting your market constraints.

For many years now, the Velfor Group has attached great importance to the circular economy and sustainable development. In this way, we have adopted a truly environmental approach. It is recognized by the MoRe (Mobilized to Recycle) label, awarded every year since its creation in 2019. This approach involves incorporating recycled materials, reducing material thickness where possible, and reintroducing production offcuts into our manufacturing circuits.

The group now has 6 industrial subsidiaries: Amandis, Creaplast, Lider, Velfor Conditionnement, Velfor Emballage and Velfor Industrie.

Creaplast awarded by Ecovadis, Velfor committed to measuring its environmental impact

Creaplast, a subsidiary of the Velfor group, was awarded the Ecovadis bronze medal with an overall score of 64/100. This result reflects our efforts to structure our CSR approach, with an environmental score of 60/100 . This recognition encourages us to pursue and strengthen our commitments.

But beyond certifications, the environmental impact of a product is measured by concrete actions. With this in mind, Velfor initiated a study of the actual energy consumption of its thermoforming machines.

Today,Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an essential tool for understanding the carbon footprint of our products. However, it requires precise data, particularly on power consumption. IPC, the Centre Technique Industriel de la Plasturgie et des Composites, understands this. In partnership with ADEME, it has launched a national initiative to measure the actual energy consumption of thermoforming machines.

Velfor has been asked to take part in this study, and the measurements will be carried out directly on the production sites of our subsidiaries Velfor Emballage and Velfor indsutrie. This approach is fully in line with our desire to make the ecological transition a lever for continuous improvement.

Bio PET: a biomass-based solution

Bio PET is a plant-based plastic made from renewable non-food resources such as wood residues. This process makes it possible to recover materials from biomass while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

This material has the advantage of being fully recyclable, while offering performance comparable to that of conventional PET. It integrates perfectly into existing recycling circuits, facilitating responsible end-of-life management.

At Velfor, we encourage the use of Bio PET in our developments, in order to offer innovative and sustainable alternatives in line with current environmental requirements.

PETG: a recycled and recyclable material

PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) is derived from the advanced recycling of PET bottles, mainly used in food packaging. This process gives a second life to post-consumer plastics, while guaranteeing the high quality of the resulting material.

PETG’s main advantage lies in its dual circularity: it is both recycled and recyclable, incorporating 50% PCR material. Unlike other plastics, it retains its mechanical and aesthetic properties after several processing cycles, making it a sustainable solution for many industrial applications.

At Velfor, we integrate PETG into our manufacturing processes to reduce our environmental impact and promote more responsible use of plastic resources.

The circular economy, a strategic lever for Velfor

At Velfor, we are convinced that industrial performance must go hand in hand with environmental responsibility. That’s why the circular economy is at the heart of our strategy.

This model aims to optimize the use of resources by limiting waste, extending product life and encouraging reuse and recycling. In concrete terms, this means rethinking design, production and waste management.

Our commitments are reflected in :

  • designing sustainable, reusable solutions,
  • reducing our consumption of raw materials,
  • recycling our industrial waste.

The circular economy is a concrete response to today’s ecological challenges, as well as a source of innovation and competitiveness for our Group.

Velfor is firmly committed to this transition towards a more sober, sustainable and responsible model.
